A Star is Born
Pete Davidson was born Peter Michael Davidson on November 16, 1993, in Staten Island, New York City. His mother is called Amy Walters and his father was Scott Matthew Davidson. He also has a younger sister named Casey.
The Davidson family had some Jewish, German, and Irish ancestry, and raised their children in the Catholic faith. Though they had a loving upbringing, tragedy was about to strike for the young star’s family – and shape his future in a way he could not imagine.
A Tragic Loss
Even though Pete Davidson had a loving upbringing and happy childhood, this was sadly cut short at the young age of seven with the tragic and sudden death of his father. Scott Davidson was a New York firefighter, who lost his life serving in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
The tragic loss of his father at a young age significantly influenced Pete Davidson’s life and path to stardom. It remains a crucial part of his narrative, showcasing his remarkable resilience as he turned this personal tragedy into a successful career in comedy and entertainment.
Davidson has spoken publicly about how the loss of his father at such a young age affected him and caused him problems growing up. He began acting out in school, no longer bothered by rules or authority, or worried about getting good grades.
Not only that, but he even started pulling his own hair out to the point where he became totally bald. It’s amazing to think that this young troubled boy would one day grow up to be a famous comedian and even more famous ladies’ man. Just how did he do it?
And it wasn’t just his childhood trauma and behavioral difficulties that troubled Davidson as he was growing up. He also suffered from physical illness and pain, and when he was about 17 he was eventually diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a stomach and digestive disorder that can be very painful.
Not only did Davidson have to receive medical treatment for the condition, but he also turned to the use of recreational drugs. Little did anyone know that this young star would come through his physical and mental battles to become one of the biggest heartthrobs in Hollywood.
It’s no surprise to hear that thanks to his childhood trauma and medical issues, Pete Davidson suffered emotionally from a young age and has experienced mental health issues. Davidson later revealed that as a teenager he was extremely depressed, and struggled with very dark thoughts.
He attributes the music of Kid Cudi for reigniting his zest for life and providing the strength to persevere. Little did anyone foresee the immense stardom he would achieve. This connection with Kid Cudi reflects how influential and transformative art can be in one’s personal journey and rise to fame.
