The old man was a war veteran, he might have gone through a lot in those years. His grumpiness was the aftermath of the years that he had spent in his job. She couldn’t even offer him dinner at her expense at Luby’s but the least she could do was to be kind to him. But people at the restaurant never used to understand this thing.
