Shelf Life varies

One point to be noted here is that the blood product’s shelf life varies. If we go by the Red Cross, one can keep red cells at 42.8 °F for about 42 days. As far as the platelets are concerned then it should be stored at room temperature in agitators. They can be kept only for five days. But the same is not with Cyro ad plasma. They can be kept frozen for about 12 months.

Always In Demand

The demand for blood never stops in hospitals. That is why these medical institutions have a stock of blood products. Sometimes, there is a high demand for blood. It happens when someone meets with a fatal accident resulting in heavy loss of blood. It is then blood is disseminated to the patient when and as needed by the hospital.

The Accident

Lin had met with a car accident about 11 years ago. The car crash left her heavily injured. Doctors had to treat her with 10 pints of blood and about a couple of isolated platelets. Thanks to the immediate medical attention, the woman recuperated rapidly. However, she was suffering from bleeding disorder and needed more blood donations.

Kept Confidential

Notably, the process of blood donation is kept highly confidential. So when Lin asked the authorities for the revelation of her blood donor, they did not tell her. She asked them many times but they remained tight-lipped. However, she was too determined to give up.

Another Try

She decided to try her luck again. Lin approached the authorities again and told them her urgency. Eventually, the authorities had to drop some hints. Lin would have never imagined in her wildest dream what was coming her way.

Man From Hometown

The first thing that they told her was that the person who had donated her blood was from her hometown only, Hsinchu. This was just the beginning of surprises that she was going to get. they told her another astonishing fact.
